From the moment I saw the Lily Sage and Co Daisy Chain Top pop up on Instagram I knew I needed to make one for Miss O! I mean really what could be better than a top that is as perfect for twirling as it is for climbing and running?! So when I spotted this gorgeous Nani IRO at Tessuti Fabrics I knew exactly what I needed to do.
I sewed up this little top in a straight size 3 as it is the smallest size provided for this pattern, even though Miss O is generally on the smaller side of a size 2 figuring that even if was far too big it could be put away for next year. Though despite being a little roomy around the chest I am pleased to report the fit is entirely acceptable on my little lady.
The pattern came together like a dream, and was finished within an afternoon despite being one of the first project I have ever used my new overlocker on. The pattern instructions were clear and concise and I couldn’t be happier with the finished top, which is already a firm favourite of Miss O’s! Having never worked with double gauze before I am still amazed just how well it worked for this pattern. It’s just so incredibly soft and beautiful, and I’m sure it will be amazing to wear over the summer!
I finished off this little outfit with an old favourite pattern, the Oliver and S Classic Picnic Shorts. I first sewed these up for Miss O last summer (whilst not blogged they can be seen here) and they fast became one of my favourite things for Miss O to wear. Sewn in a size 2, I was able to squeeze these shorts out of the denim scraps from Miss O’s Tea Party Sundress using Using the Nani IRO for the contrast, and I am in love with just how well they go togeather. This outfit has already a firm favourite and has already had two outings with tights and a top underneath, though I’m sure it will truly come into its element once summer finally hits. My only regret is that they aren’t in my size!
Oh how pretty! And I love, love the shorts! So nicely done.
