Sewing projects A little Oliver and S Music Box Jumper in Liberty Chambray

Don’t you just love it when things go perfectly to plan! Back when I purchaced 1 3/4 yards of this stunning Liberty Chambray in Capel from the wonderful people at DuckaDilly I was hoping to make something for both myself and Miss O and I am proud to say not only did I do exactly that, but I have ended up with two of my favourite makes ever.  There is nothing I love more in Miss O’s wardrobe than a good tunic (or jumper as some call them!), and this little Oliver and S Music box Jumper is definitely a winner. Cut in a size 2T using View B the only change I made was to shorten the length by an inch as Miss O is a little on the small side. The fit is wonderful, and easily a accomodates a couple of layers underneath with a good amount of growing room. The buttons down the back make it easy to get onto a squirmy toddler and the front inverted box pleat means Miss O is never slowed down when running after her big brother!   The pattern was a delight to sew, as with all of the Oliver and S patterns I have had the pleasure of sewing. Easily sewn up in an afternoon, the instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. I couldn’t be happier with this little dress, it is neat inside and out (which works particularly well with my obsessive tendencies!) and I am particularly pleased with how well my buttonholes turned out using my vintage Singer buttonhole attachment. It’s always exciting seeing my skills develop! I am sure Miss O will be getting plenty of wear out of this little dress, both winter and summer. I just wish I had more of this fabric!
