Sewing Projects Liesl and co City Stroll Skirt in Liberty Chambray

The moment I spotted this Liberty Chambray on the DuckaDilly Fabrics website (who have an AMAZING range of Liberty, with reasonably priced shipping to Australia which is always a bonus!) I knew I needed it in my life! I was on an impulse buy mission after spotting the most perfect gemstone print Liberty and since I was already paying for shipping…. Well you know how it goes!   Now the City Stroll skirt pattern has been on my to do list for a while and I am so glad I finally got around to making it! As is the case with every pattern I have ever made from Liesl and co (or Oliver and S) this pattern is beautifully designed and a dream to sew. The skirt flew togeather flawlessly right up until the final button hole which did not want to work, the first attempt needed to be unpicked as it was slightly off alignment, then the second attempt ended with me slashing through the end of the button hole! And whilst I desperately wanted to recut the waistband at this point, super organised me had already cut a project for Miss O with the remainder of the fabric and simple didn’t have enough fabric left. After putting everything away for the night I made the decision to replace the section of the waistband with the same Liberty Alexandra A used for the pocket lining and hem facing rather than simply repairing the cut, and I’m pleased to say after wearing the skirt today I am quite happy with the little pop of colour.   I couldn’t be happier with this little skirt, it just ticks all the right boxes and I’m sure will become a year around wardrobe staple. I will definitely be making myself another of these soon. If there is one thing there is always room for in my wardrobe it’s comfy skirts with pockets!
